3D2N | Bintan Day 1 | One of A Kind Resort

Hello everyone! This is one of those last minute decision to get-away from the city. I was browsing through the website and happened to chance on One of A Kind Resort special price. I supposed it was those primary school exams weekend and so the rate was affordable. I paid $375 for 2 nights stay, breakfast included for 4 pax!

The ferry to Bintan came up to be more expensive than the stay itself! The ferry for the 5 of us came up to $489.

Hubs was reading online that it was quite difficult to get a taxi to and from Tanah Merah Ferry terminal, so we decided to park our car there. Also taxi fare would almost be comparable with the parking rates. Grab was not an option as Jade would need a child booster seat. So parking there was the way to go for us.

Above: the kids getting onto the Ferry! It is quite a short ride from Singapore to Bintan, 1 hour plus. We took the 11:10am ferry ride, arrived at the resort reception too early for check in.

Ah, from Bintan Ferry terminal to One of a kind resort, we booked for a car ride in advance through the resort. The ride to the resort was 450,000 rupiah.

Above: Jules reading a book while me and hubs settle some admin work with the receptionist, and ferry ride to Bintan, we didn't all manage to sit in a row as a family. Jade, me and Jules were infront while James and hubs sat behind us.
Above: after we finished up some admin paperwork with the receptionist, they directed us to one of their restaurant for welcome drinks and we could have some finger food too! How nice. This was quite unexpected and I was very delighted of this service!

While waiting at the restaurant for our villa to be ready, the boys went out to run and play.
We had to wait about 2 hours or so, and we ordered some food - otah (63,000 rupiah), tempeh (39,000 rupiah) and popcorn chicken (39,000 rupiah).

YAY! Finally we checked in at 2pm. And we had a buggy ride to our villa. The guy even helped to carry our luggage up to the 2nd floor. The kids were so excited with the buggy ride and all wanted to sit at the back.
Each villa had one room on the 1st storey and another room on the 2nd storey. The one on the ground had a sofa bed, separate toilet, common area for dining and from the room, it leads straight out to your own swimming pool.
After the boys pulled out and made their sofa bed, the kids all changed into their swimming wear for a dip.

Above: I brought a swimming float for Jade and water guns for all the kids. One thing to note, don't splash too much as the pool water will flow outwards and into your room!
After a swim, we had a game of rummikub and it started to rain in the evening, so we ordered dinner in.

Dinner: Chicken pizza (65,000 rupiah), Spaghetti alla vongole (75,000 rupiah), kailan udang (62,000 rupiah), sweet sour chicken (62,000 rupiah), goreng tepung (squid) (72,000 rupiah), 1 portion of rice (9,000 rupiah), 1 coke (20,000 rupiah) and 1 sprite (20,000 rupiah).

Above: Jade practicing her kindergarten graduation dance almost every night. She is dancing to TARA roly poly! When the kids were asleep, hubs and i had a wine down session. Red merlot was bought from Tanah Merah Ferry Terminal DFS for $14.28. Super affordable. It was an easy red.

And that ended our short Day 1 in Bintan.
