Jay Cooks | Chilli Crab and Crab Bee Hoon

Our Dinner tonight!!! The night before a long weekend calls for a mini celebration of some sorts.

Hubs says that there will be no repeat because it is just too much work. Ok noted. Next time will just do online food delivery.
Also we didn't expect peeling crab shells at home for the kids will take more than 1 hour to eat. So when we finished our crab dinner it was like 9pm....OMG.

Lesson Learnt.

Online Delivery of Fresh Mud Crabs

Delivery of our fresh mud crabs!

The kids were so excited to see fresh crabs. They were quite small and it was our first time buying mud crabs online, so we didn't really check whether were all of the crabs alive or not. They smelled very smelly according to my little one.

Jules told me that one of the crabs tried to sneak out from the styrofoam box. We kept them alive in the box overnight, the next day, i think only 1 crab was dead...I'm not really sure either since it was hubs who cleaned and chopped them all. Eeks.

stay tuned for our chilli crab and crab bee hoon cooking adventure!

Velle Cooks | Sunday

No Hotplate? Bring your own frying pan to the table.
I missed hotplate egg tofu, so today I'm going to try to make it by myself. And I do not have a hotplate at home so I'm going to bring my entire frying pan to the dining table!

Don't you miss those tze char dishes? I definitely miss them...like hotplate tofu, black pepper venison, salted egg prawns, sweet sour pork...all the wok hey taste, not easy to replicate at home.  BUT, today I'm going to try my hand at hotplate egg tofu with mince pork.

The egg tofu has to be separately fried first, so this was the only challenge because it created lots of oil splatter on my kitchen counter. Next to stir fry the mince pork, carrots and chinese mushrooms, simmer them down with a sauce ( i used oyster sauce, light soy sauce, water, dash of white pepper and sugar). Once they are cooked, put the fried egg tofu on top and pour in beaten eggs, cook on medium heat, once the egg starts to solidify, it's time to take the pan off the stove as the egg will continue to cook due to the remaining heat from the pan.

it tastes really yummy, but there's so much cleaning up to do!!!

After lunch, weekly grocery time. Some vegetables we have no more space in our vegetable compartment, so we just have to leave them outside for the time being.
Tonight, I'm prepareing braised soy sauce chicken! And chives omelette.

Jade and James // Colouring contest

Mother's Day Colouring Contest by Popular
Godma sends us a link informing us that there is a children's colouring contest online, so we printed it out to let the kids have a go. Jade didn't really colour very well, but that's ok since our main purpose was to keep her little hands busy and where we could see them.

James on the other hand, coloured pretty well and so we decided to log in his entry. Although he didn't win anything but it was good effort!

Velle Cooks | What to do with leftover wraps

Weekend Breakfast
What to do with leftover wraps? I'm making breakfast wrap shells.
The original recipe calls for many items to put into the wrap shells but I only have a few ingredients in my fridge today...so i'm using chinese parsley, tomatoes, zucchini and half a lemon with mayo, dash of salt and pepper and I have my salad to go on top of my baked breakfast shells.
