7D6N | Self Drive Holiday | Perth with kids Day 02 | Blue Boat House and Fremantle

Here's the 2nd half day itinerary after we visiting the Caversham Wildlife Park in the morning.
From Caversham Wildlife Park, it takes about half an hour's drive via the National Route 1 to the Ble Boat House. There's ample parking at Dinghy Sailing Club which is approx 5 min stroll. It's a leisure walk and just us (hubs and myself), we found the walk very enjoyable in the cool spring weather. Jules 6yo was able to walk by himself, James 4yo was on the stroller with hubs pushing him and Jade 22 months was slinged onto me.

When we arrived at Crawley Edge Boatshed, there were 2 black swans swimming in the lake. And there was a small queue forming to take instagram worthy photos of this famous boat house. I think it is definitely worth the trip down for memory lane sake.

After we did our photo taking of the Blue Boathouse, we drove onwards to Fremantle Market!! Important thing to note is that they are opened on weekends only i.e. Fri, Sat, Sun, Mon and PH. So do plan your trip well. The market is undoubtedly the best place to look for fresh produce. As we visited Perth in Spring, strawberries were abundant and we bought 2 punnets of them from the market. They were cheap and very very sweet.

Other things which my son Jules enjoyed was the buskering atmosphere! He just sat on the floor and watched them entertain him!!! IT WAS SO INCREDIBLE!
Within the Fremantle Market, if you have a sweet tooth, you can try "The Honeycake". It's like our Kueh lapis in honey! One slice of the cake comes in layers of honey with milky caramel insides and topped with ground walnuts. I'm not too sure how to describe it but it was very unique!
above: The Honeycake - we bought 2 slices to bring back to our apartment to try.
above: The boys super excited with the flame throwing busker.
I had to drag Jules off the floor and begged him to walk to our lunch destination - Cicerello's!!!
We ordered a plate of fresh chilli mussels (not spicy at all) and Fish & Chips.

above: Aside from the Fremantle Market, Seafood bistros along the quayside, the photogenic railways and ferris wheel are places to capture some pretty moments. The railway is not abandon so please take photos with caution and care.

At the beginning of the quayside, next to Little Creatures, there's a huge HEART FREO where the kids ran and we took some pictures of them. Freo is Fremantle in short that is used by the locals. There's the Fremantle Prison that is very close here too but we reckon that the kids were not ready for Prison visit as yet. LOL.
Since the boys were so good today, we treated them to some organic gelato!
Back to Fremantle Market where hubs and I shared a cuppa latte and rested our feets a little. Phew!
Jade is already into her 2nd nap of the day....
OMG. I didn't really researched much about dinner so we saw that there was queue forming outside this queer launderette called Lucky Chans? It was really unplanned. The menu was limited, there was nothing more than ramen and dumplings. We ordered only 1 bowl of ramen, lotus chips (too salty) and duck dumplings (yucks). Back home, we have so many Japanese restaurants serving all sorts of ramen which is way much better than these ones, even Imperial Treasure or Crystal Jade La Mian is better....

Bad choice.
