7D6N | Self Drive Holiday | Perth with kids Day 03 | Jewel Caves and Cape Leeuwin

i promise i will write about this day in detail. So now it's just photos for the time being.
 ...
Picking up from where I last left off, we started the morning really early about 5am. Hubs and Jules were the only ones awake and thank goodness we had Jules to keep on talking to hubs while he was driving. James, Jade and myself were nodding our heads off while the 2 front persons were happily chatting. About 8am, I finally woke up and hubs dropped me off at a petrol station to get a cuppa coffee and we continued the ride to Drift Cafe where we had an awesome breakfast.

the place is quite tight and small but the food served was delish!
And there was a nearby Woolworths where I bought Tim Tams and strawberries (it was in season) and I bought loads of home decor stuff from Target.

above: Drift Cafe. Yummy strawberry pancakes. The boys shared a hot chocolate.

After our walk, grocery shop and breakfast, we continued our journey to The Margaret River Chocolate Company! There were 3 huge silver bowls right smacked at the entrace where you can try their dark chocolate, chocolate and white. The boys queued and had several rounds of tasting. There's also a window where you can see how they make chocolate "live".

The Providore is very nearby to the Chocolate company and it's worthwhile going if you are keen on local produce, sauces, condiments and stuff. We bought a bottle of chocolate liquer cos it was so good. And we bought 2 other dips which came highly recommended.

We managed to catch the 4pm tour of the jewel caves. Tickets can be bought at the jewel cave counter. As we were quite early, we had a Karri tree bush trekking exercise. Jules was very afraid that there might be snakes slithering as there was a sign that wrote: BEWARE OF POISONOUS SNAKES. hahahah....

above: the Jewel caves is a guided tour.

The Jewel caves is home to one of the largest show caves in Western Australia. I think they all must look pretty similar, so just doing one was good enough to teach the kids on stalactites and stalagmites. The guide was very friendly, cracked a few good jokes and was very informative.

above: after the Jewel Caves, we checked into Augusta Town...look at the amount of snacks I have bought over the past 3 days!!!
There was a tiny sandpit just outside our homestay and my 6 year old can tell me that it's so fun! But we only let them had about 20mins of play before we rushed them off to a local supermarket before it closes at 7pm as we had to cook our dinner.

some shots after we did our grocery shopping....really cute their reactions.

And we wanted to catch the sunset at Cape Leeuwin.

The boys totally enjoyed the cold and chilly weather, running up and down the beach and chasing after one another.

and that pretty much sums up our Day 3 in Perth!

Note: it's always good to do just one big ticket item in the morning and another in the afternoon. For young children, they really need a lot of space and time, and it's no use rushing for too many activities to be done in a day. Just my 2 cents!
