Tioman Day 1 - Good Friday

It's a Friday early morning. We are off to our breakfast area....for this trip, all of our meals are covered and it's buffet style. We are going to this holiday easy and going to laze at the pool and beach to while the time away.

we packed all their swimming gear, sand castle kits, sunblock, caps, crocs, swimming vests... so it's just going to be the SUN, SAND AND SEA!!!

above: Ayura Spa...very popular. So if you are here, please do an early booking to avoid disappointment.

above: Boys back from their swimming activity...will blog separately cos the photos are in a different camera.

After swimming in both the pool and sea, it's time for lunch! The restaurant is having a promotion for wine and beer. So for every 2 cans of beer or glasses of wine (red or white) you get another can /glasss free!

After lunch, we decided to check out the games rooms which was deserted. Guess everyone is at the pool. The games room was air-conditioned so it was a refreshing welcome when we entered the place after a warm lunch at the restaurant. Tioman at this time of the year is very very sunny and hot. I even bought the boys ice-creams to cool them down....

evening, we brought the boys to the resort's playground to play.

Above: Sun setting and that was our first day in Tioman... now we are waiting for the divers to come back from sea so that we can all have dinner together.

Tioman Here we come!

Hello!
it's a long weekend holiday for us here in Singapore. So we are going for a short getaway in Sunny Tioman with my colleagues. I'm bringing the boys this time round without baby Jade as I'm afraid the long ferry ride to Tioman will be difficult for her. Plus I didn't want my colleagues to become nannies for us.

ritey...we have just dropped my helper and baby Jade at my parents' place and we are now waiting for the taxi to bring us to the meeting point.

We were slightly late due to heavy traffic...nonetheless, we managed to hop onto our coach and now we are approaching Woodlands checkpoint. The traffic was terrible....thousands of people were also crossing the checkpoint. From 5pm all the way to 11pm, we were trapped en route to the checkpoint and only manage to reach Mersing Ferry Terminal about 230am.

Both Jules and James were very corporative during all the transfers. So I'm really glad that they were so "good". Both of them slept awhile on the coach and the 3 hour ferry ride to Tioman.

About 4am...we reached Berjaya Resort and guess what was my immediate reaction - start pumping!!! It was almost 9 hours since my last pump!

The boys were so excited that they couldn't sleep so we let them watch a little telly and waited for them to fall asleep.

Wheeler's Estate

Sunday Brunch - Wheeler's Estate
We wanted to try out a new cafe for Sunday brunch and hubs suggested visiting Wheeler's Estate at Seletar. It's called the Oval because the cafes are string on a road that is oval in shape? The main draw is that it's located in those old colonial houses in a lush verdant setting and the cafes are within walking distance to an aerospace themed playground! That's a really big hit with the children.

we reached the place around 12noon and it was really hot. We were 2nd in queue and decided to let others behind us have the outdoor bench seats while we waited for an air-conditioned area.

above: me and my kids...after we ordered, we went out into an enclosed verandah and viewed out to the playground. Tall tables with high bar stools were placed here to house more guests...but i guess most people rather take the outdoor bench picnic style or the air-conditioned "atas" cafe seats.

YAY! after awhile, our lattes arrived together with a biscuit which were eaten up by my 2 sons. We ordered 2 kids meal - calamari and mac and cheese. Both were delicious. Priced at $10+++

For adults, we ordered Feed Me Breakfast and True Blue burger to share as we guessed that our boys wouldn't be able to finish their kids meal anyway.

Iced water is FOC. All in, my bill came up to about $90-ish. Prices of food is on the high side. I suppose I will be back because I really love the interiors, and how laid back the whole ambience is. It would really wonderful to be back here with hubs. Just hubs....so that we can enjoy our coffee and just stone.

After brunch, we promised the kids that we will bring them to the aeroplane playground to play....but after about 30mins or so, we called it a day because it was really scorching hot and James was looking as red as a lobster. Not only were the boys slightly sunburnt but James was developing a major heat rash.

so i even gave up taking photos with the silver mini caravan that is located just outside the cafe. which will look so cute if we had taken a family photo there...sigh...another time...another day.

enjoy the photos!

xoxo

Turning a Year older

Celebrating my birthday during my maternity leave. Not feeling exactly joyous or excited about it. Going back to work next Tuesday with lots of mixed feelings. Perhaps it's post partum blues?
  • I haven't really started Jade on her bottle yet and she is being breastfed exclusively.
  • I'm worried that she will not take to the bottle.
  • I'm worried that I can't find a place to express my milk because I work in a shopping mall environment where my office does not have a lactation/nursing room and I have to use the shopping mall's baby room which is the only room per toilet cluster. And it is always locked/utilised by the high volume of shoppers.
