September Holidays | Desaru Day 1| Seafood Dinner

Above: boys in matching outfits, super excited for our first trip out of Singapore after 2 years of COVID!

We hired a driver (SGMYTAXI) to drive us all up to Desaru, went through Tuas Checkpoint. Departed Singapore at 1140am and we reached Desaru at 240pm. And our room was all ready for us to check in! Perfect timing.

Managed to get a good deal from Hard Rock Desaru Hotel. For every night stay, it comes with 4 tickets to the Adventure Waterpark.

All of us in our 11 seater car. The drive up to Tuas Checkpoint was relative smooth, waiting time about 20mins or so between Singapore to Malaysia.

Above: Welcome drinks!
Using rice paper straws, it felt plastic-ky. But no choice, want to be green is like this.

First thing my kids do was to check out the wardrobe that connects to the bathroom!
Next jumping on the bed and after that, checked the cable TV for cartoon channels.
We had a slight hiccup, the TV remote couldn't turn the TV on, got a technician to come and change the TV remote batteries and then we managed to turn on the TV.
Above: Us at GMT+8, where we get our Welcome drinks.
Part of the lobby was a direct view towards the Adventure Waterpark!

Lobby Entrance Drop off porch has this beautiful feature wall where everyone, almost everyone took a photo here.

After we settled ourselves down in the hotel, we started to make dinner plans. Called the Concierge and they recommended to hire a driver (RM 25) and go down to this seafood place called Nelayan for a seafood dinner. They open at 5pm, so we reached there about 530pm and there was only 1 family there, waiting for their meal. We didn't have to queue, and was directed to table immediately, we ordered and the food arrived promptly.
Above: we ordered 2 coconuts, the boys shared one and hubs, myself and Jade shared the other coconut. The coconut was quite expensive.
Above: Seafood dinner. We ordered fried squid, crab meat tofu soup, golden silk prawns, broccoli, steam red snapper and 2 bowls of rice. We even ordered takeaway too because we were afraid that we might be hungry at night. So we tabao 1 fried rice, prawn paste fried chicken, 2 sprites and 1 coke. Total bill RM $340

As we had our dinner early, when we finished early too. At it was early evening, we still had some time to stroll down the beach and take some photos. By the time we finished walking down the beach and back to Nelayan, there was a long queue forming with people waiting for their tables.

Above: the boys starting throwing pebbles into the sea, hoping to see their pebbles "skip".
after our stroll on the beach, Hub texted the driver and already he was waiting at the carpark lot.
It was a quick drive back to Hard Rock.
About 8pm, we went to GMT+8 for some drinks and game of rummikub.
Me and Jade in matching outfits and Jules and James in matching red polo tees.
The kids had root beers and hubs and I shared a jug of beer. Total RM $132

Then someone wanted to use the toilet, so I had to gulped down my remaining beer and everyone went back to the room.

10pm: we had our supper with TV! And good night!
