Vivocity | Hello Kitty Lantern Festival

This Mid Autumn Festival, there were only 2 places where I wanted to bring my kids to visit. One was the Vivocity Garden of Lights (Sanrio theme) and another was the Sun Yat Sen with huge blown up pandas. Unfortunately the latter, we didn't manage to visit when it is within walking distance from my place!  Vivocity was very crowded and some need to queue to take photo of the Sanrio characters. We walked quickly through the rainbow arches and one lady was kind enough to help us take a family photo! And it turned out pretty well too!!!

We also had our dinner there. First time trying Fried Porridge and we bought tu-tu kueh for the kids to try too.

Jade | Ear piercing

last day of the year, Jade has been wanting some earrings and I promised her that she could get her ears pierced as her birthday present. Unfortunately she got Covid on her birthday, so now that she is well already, we brought her to Vivocity Stellar to get her ears pierced.

She was a brave little girl, didn't cry. I would say the ladies here are doing a really good job. They recommended the type of ear studs for Jade who has sensitive and dry skin, did a spot on her ears with a marker to show where they are going to pierce next. Both ears were done simultaneously so that Jade just had to feel the "sting" once. Before going for piercing, they gave her a bunny to hug for support. After her ears were pierced, they sanitized her ears again, and briefed me the what-nots like foods to avoid and the after care.

It was an overall pleasant experience and I recommend all mummies to head to Stellar for their little princesses who wants to have their ears pierced.

TamJai SamGor Mixian VivoCity

There's always a queue outside TamJai SamGor, be it Suntec, Vivocity or CitySquare Mall. Finally I got to try it here at Vivocity as there wasn't really a queue yet as we were quite early for lunch. The broth is quite flavourful and robust. There's some "spiciness" in the broth as what they are known for - Hot and Sour soup. The noodles were very soft. I remembered eating something like that in Hong Kong Mongkok, quite close to Stanford hotel.  The locals there often packed the eatery and up till late night. You can select the ingredients (pork balls, vegetables, innards, meat etc) for the noodle soup and it comes with pickles on the side. 10 years later, it is now in Singapore.
Overall experience, it's not bad. Something different for a change.

Vivocity - After dinner Desserts

 Honeymoon Desserts
While the parents had their hot desserts, the kids had their cold parfaits.

james' nose had a taste of his parfait and james doesn't even know it!

Dinner at Vivocity Jpot

My mum loves a good hotpot...and we love eating our hotpot at Jpot!
Jpot's sauce for dipping is really one of the nicest ones we had, plus they serve instant noodles too which I think it is an important item for hotpot. Dinners are usually packed and definitely needs a reservation and even with a reservation, there's a limited time for diners too so that everyone gets to eat their dinner on time.

Jules James & Jade - At Vivocity Playground

Vivocity has just revamped their playground with more rubberised flooring, trampolined zones and a built in slide made of concrete which I though was unsafe! It's so hard and not kid friendly at all. Firstly the gradient is too steep and makes kids going down too fast and almost no time to brake when they land. Plus if they slide off course, they might hit their little heads against the sides of the slide which is so hard!!!

I think Vivocity should rethink about their slide. Not only did I find this slide too hard and unfriendly, i think the swings are ridiculous too! There's a chain hooked from the middle of the swing to the bottom of the floor. I understand that this is a safety precaution so that the kids do not "over swing" but it was almost impossible to swing at all!!!

The only parts of the playground that my children enjoyed are the rotating eggs in red and the trampoline zone.

above: the ridiculously steep slide with hard edges/curbs on the side
above: James with a smile although he got bruised on his sides from coming down the slide too fast.
above: James super unhappy with his low swing seat that can't swing at all.

Valentine's Day Lunch

Having our lunch at The Chop House Vivocity
We are celebrating Valentine's Day one day earlier because tomorrow hubs has to visit his renovation sites and meet some contractors... it's ok with me that we are not celebrating on the actual day itself as long as I get to spend some time with him!

I'm having the pumpkin soup (soup of the day) and Barramundi. Hub is having Bangers and Mash and tortilla chip with minced beef. And we are sharing a cuppa latte.

And our little Jade is here to join in our Valentine's Day lunch with us while the boys are in school.

our starters and coffee came first.
Our mains arrived shortly. My barramundi was too dry even though the skin was crispy. I didn't really like it at all. Hub thoroughly enjoyed his bangers and smash. I had a try too...yup. I agree. It tastes so much better than my fish.

and we are off to buy our Valentine's day present now!
