Tamarind Prawns!
Trying out a new dish which I saw online! So inspired and plus I have all the ingredients at home! The result of Tamarind prawns is an awesome burst of flavours - sour and sweet and a little spicy. And the colours are amazing! So it is a definitely a dish which I will want to cook again. I always love dishes that has vibrant colours and textures.
The difficult part to this dish is soaking the tamarind with water and getting the seeds out, other than that, the rest is easy peasy!

Saturday Lunch at Home
When you have many family members, it makes it more worth the money to stay home to eat. Personally, it is not difficult to whip up a quick meal, but it takes some planning and preparation if you are planning to do soups for lunch or dinner.
My quick go to soups are usually miso soup. However for ABC soup, lotus root, watercress soup (like what we are having today), I will need to put the frozen pork ribs into the fridge the night before such that it will thaw evenly by noon the next day.
So, today we are having watercress soup, sardines with tomatoes and fried egg! Super fast for the sardines and fried egg, the only dish that took 2 hours was the watercress soup.
Bon appetit!

Happy Birthday Lynna | Japanese Curry
Preparing Japanese cuisine from scratch and cooking for 10 pax was like super busy for me!!! First thing first, I made a big batch of dashi stock using bonito flakes and kombu, so this will be used for my miso soup and chawanmushi. Next, fortunately i have my helper to smash the pork loins, but after baking them, it was abit too tough, guess my pork loin is too lean. Not enough fats.
For the Japanese curry, I bought cube roux so that's one step less and faster to prepare lunch. Cut potatoes and carrots, onions, grated an apple and we set off to cook the curry.
Once the curry is cooking, we started to prepare the salad, shred the cabbage, japanese cucumbers and cherry tomatoes, drizzle sesame seed sauce and set aside in the fridge. One side is done!
Next, slice the fishcake, shrimp and gingko nuts for the chawanmushi.
After the pork loin were hit by the back of the knife, pushed back to its original shape, we had to dress it with flour, egg and breadcrumbs and into the oven to bake them instead of frying - it's a healthier choice!
For the miso soup, I used my dashi stock, soaked seaweed, cut silk tofu cubes, mushrooms and sliced salmon.

Velle Cooks | Wombok with shimeji mushrooms and carrots
Super simple dish cooked in a shallow casserole. Wombok (long cabbage), sliced carrots, dried shrimp and shimeji mushrooms. It can be flavoured in different ways using different amounts of oyster sauce, light soy sauce, sugar, pinch of salt and sugar. And if you don't have oyster sauce, you can interchange with fish sauce and it works just as well! Reason being, there's already the unami flavour from the dried shrimp!
Another super easy dish with premix mapo tofu sauce (i use Lee Kum Kee), I only have to prep the mince pork and cut the silk tofu into cubes. The rest is just to simply following the instructions on the premix packet.
