WHAT TO BUY FOR 5 YEAR OLD BOYS - Transformers Combiner force

In order to encourage more play and less video, I promised Jules that I will buy him his Transformer Combiner Force. Apparently his classmate Caleb has one and brought it to school to show to his friends...and Jules also wanted one.

So when we purchased one each for both Jules and James, they were very excited over their new toy, especially it's 2 robots that can combine into 1. 2 weeks has passed now, and I'm happy to say that he doesn't watch videos before bedtime now!!!

so money well spent.
And if you are wondering what to buy for 5 year old boys, this is something that they might love.

Hong Kong Day 3 - TOY STREET at Tai Yuen Street

This morning, we didn't plan on exactly where to have breakfast. Just went to 大快活 , had one of their economic breakfast that had noodles and congee plus drink on the side. It was crowded with locals. Today's main agenda was buying toys for the boys. Hubs was actually quite excited that he had found a toy street in Hongkong. Usually it's just shopping for me and me only....
after breakfast...jade was having her morning nap as usual. Yes she's a sleepy baby. She has her morning nap, afternoon nap, evening nap. Anyway back to the toy street. It's a very short street!!! It's not like Flower Market or Ladies Market where the street is long and filled with the same stores. This street probably only had like 5 to 10 toy stores. But it's still good to go into every single one of them to compare prices before you buy them.

so. hubs bought mainly Transformers for the kiddos. They were like 20% off the retail prices in SG. They have limited ranges too so i guess it's a hit and miss. Besides transformers, we bought rubber dinosaurs, jigsaw puzzles, tangrams. And i bought a Hello Kitty float for Jade and a sharpener!

After buying the toys, we chanced upon this street filled with red lanterns. It was quite a pleasant surprise. Had my coffee fix at this japanese cafe called Omotesando Koffee. The brew was quite good. Strong and flavourful. I saw many people taking photos. I guess it's quite instagrammable with it's interiors, baristas at work and pretty latte art.

ooo....shot of my recent buy. My Kate Spade shoulder bag with iced coffee.
Today, i dressed Jade in a Miffy romper! Hubs says if Jade hadn't wore a headband, she would be mistaken for a boy. Plus she doesn't have much hair to say that she is a girl.
Hubs say i dress Jade too androgynous.  I can't help it. I love my blacks and whites.

Got my cold treat from an ice cream van.

Back to the hotel to rest, shower and feed Jade. Most of the time she sleeps while we are touring HK. So when we are back in the hotel, her eyes are like big and wide.

here's our loot from the Toy Street

This evening Hub wanted to try the electronics street which he had found online. When we got there, I thought it reminded me of Sungei Street on a Sunday. Many peddlers, very crowded. Weather was super hot and after walking half a street, with all the jostle and bustle, we gave up and went back!!! haha.

Had an early dinner at Temple street. Ordered our usual seafood - garlic bamboo clams, garlic prawns and stir fried kangkong. And a bottle of Yanjing beer. We usually eat at this place called Temple Spicy Crabs because we have been coming here for many years but now that we are back again, i wished it was abit more like last time - not so crowded, cheaper prices and better service.

Crowded Temple Street

and to cap the night, our favourite Yee Shun Ginger milk pudding as we walked back from Temple street to Ladies Market. hmm...also very expensive. Must be the side effects of having 3 kids! I find so many eating houses in HK very expensive!!!

Make Shift Toy Shelf

Remember we had these leftover OSB boards from our temporary room which hubs made for the helper? Well hubs has decided to do a quick shelf to house some of Jules and James toys!
Initially we wanted to put castors underneath the shelf to make it more mobile but we realised that we didn't have any spare ones! So we just added a piece of felt underneath to make it easier to slide it on the tile floor when we need to access the storage behind this shelf.

if you are wondering what happened to the rest of the OSB boards, well we left it at the recycling bin and that evening, most of the boards were taken away by somebody. At least that's one thing of my mind now before I start work next week!

Christmas Eve with the family - A time for gathering and feasting

Cousin Clarus is here at our place to play with our boys...he's 1 year and 5 months now. So handsome this little fella! All toothy and wide-eyed.

My 2 boys acting all up, playing shuttle run in the house.

Finally exhausted. they start to lie down on the floor.

All 3 boys started to drink from their water bottles. Quite a sight.

Hub's brother and my sis-in-law with their son, Clarus
Our turkey bundle from Cold Storage which comes with stuffing and ham. Comes with free cheese board too. The only problem at Cold storage (anchorpoint outlet) is that the employees there are so messy and disorganised. This is the 2nd year which we are getting their turkey from them and they always gets order mixed up even though we pre-order at the store very early. What happens is that when we gave them our order chit to collect our turkey, after waiting for almost half hour (turkey doesn't take that long to come from the freezer or store right?), hubs noticed that the people who came later than him have already collected their turkeys...so he went over to ask the Cold Storage people about our order and the lady said that she doesn't have our order chit!! WTH!

So she checked back against her list..of course our names are there. So no choice she went in to get a turkey bundle for us. But seriously she wasted our time because we purposely planned our timing to get the turkey as we needed 1 hour to heat it up back home before our guests arrived.

it's so irritating.

there was another couple who is even worse than us. Their names are not even on the list! Think it's because they had ordered online. So it's really a very messy affair here at Anchorpoint Cold storage.

above: caesar salad by my mother...
i asked her where are the avocados... she says don't need. No chicken slices or smoked salmon slices either. Not even bacon bits. Yup...i'm quite the fussy eater.

Both my mothers brought dessert!
1 pot of beancurd strips with gingko nuts and 1 pot of mango sago.

as i was still in confinement..my nanny prepared just for me - pumpkin rice.

above: family photo!

Time for exchanging presents as it's almost 9pm and cousin clarus has to sleep...he's quite tired already....

We have been keeping this Octonaut toy in our store room for almost a year now...finally we gave it to our 2 sons. Gup A and Gup B...hopefully i get their names right...seriously i can't remember which gup is which gup.

My in-laws bought Transformer robots for the 2 boys, my parents bought wooden toys from "That Toy Store".  hubs' brother bought swimming vests for the boys. I bought Robocar Poli Roy for James and Vtech laptop for Jules.

Jade got an Espirit top from her Aunt and Uncle, a newborn pajamas from her grandparents whom my confinement nanny says it's already too small for her since she is over 3kgs. The newborn pjs look like they are more for 3kgs babies and lighter.

We bought a Melissa shoe for my mum and packed a red packet for my daddy.
For hubs parents, we bought essence of chicken and a home diffuser. Parents have everything already....it's quite tough to choose a present for them. But i think it's the thoughts that count!

For 1 year old Clarus, we bought him duplo! I see how my 2 sons enjoy playing with their duplos...and always short of parts. I guess there's never enough of duplo.

Above: The aftermath of opening up all the presents...wrappers all over the floor.

My parents bought me a Stokke baby carrier in black and for hubs they got him a BB8 robot.
