Jade - Day 3 Discharging out from the hospital!

YAY! Today is our last day in the hospital. If everything goes well, fingers cross for Jade to pass her Jaundice test, we will be able to go out.
For breakfast, I decided to opt out my regular fish congee and went with the egg omelette which was delicious!! Served with grapefruit juice and 2 slices of wholemeal bread spread with marmalade and butter.
Hubs had congee with a cuppa coffee. He skipped his bread with jam.

430am:
Nurse pushes Jade in for me to breast feed her. OMG. I'm so not used to this routine yet.

930am: Appointment to do the birth certificate
You will need
  1. marriage certificate
  2. parents IC
  3. Live birth
At Mount Elizabeth, you will also need to make a booking first before you go down to do your birth certificate. So better check the opening times before making a booking.

1030am
while hubs was making a few trips to the car with all our baggage and gifts from friends. The phone rang and it was the PD Dr Siva. (He's covering for our usual PD who has gone for his xmas holidays) He called to say that Jade's bilirubin levels are under 200 so we can be discharged!

The nurses came to check my final blood pressure, did more paperwork. My gynae came to visit me every morning too, to check on my stitches as well as health. I was told that I only had a few stitches so I only need to go back to her in about one month's time.

1130am: finally we checked out!
some photos of Jade who has just changed into her new outfit and swaddle. A nurse came in to help us change her out and gave us the mummy bag which contained some freebies - diapers, milk samples, magazine, feminine wipes, baby wash etc

Jade - I'm 2 days old!

Hello!
Jade is 2 days old now. And she has lost about 100grams as my milk has not come in yet. It's quite normal for babies to lose about 10% of their weight during the 1st week into the new world. So i'm not very concerned although I told the nurses that if she's really wailing into the night, they can top up with formula for her.

babies tummies are about the size of a walnut when they are born so they need very little milk to sustain themselves for the first few days. However I really need to catch up on my sleep...yes I'm the lazy mum type. So yes I'm open to formula even though my colostrum has not come in yet.

see my tired face...even the nurse took pity on me and offered to take Jade to the nursery for me to zzz.

Time passes so fast! Today's our celebration dinner!!! It came on a huge trolley table with simple flower arrangement and candlelight.
A bottle of sparkling juice was served. We thought that between the both of us, we really couldn't finish the entire bottle, so we decided to bring it home. YAY! it will be perfect for our xmas family gathering.
I ordred my Western beef steak with green papaya soup, poached pear for dessert and longan drink as usual while Hubs had smoked salmon , mushroom soup and tiramisu cake.

I usually order a low salt and less oil, more gravy to my food ordering under the remarks section.

Jade - Day 2 Approaching evening

my colleagues who came to visit me!

Jade - Day 2 Lunch@Mt Elizabeth Hospital

It's lunch time and I'm having my confinement selection and hubs has ordered western. Basically the food is quite nice and you can order with less salt, less oil, less spicy...the list goes on and on.
The only thing which i didn't like is that the food comes really hot and all clinged wrapped. So it's very difficult to remove the cling wrap and I hate to eat my food cold. Last time it was served with a plastic cover which was so easy to remove.
My nourishing soup - black chicken with chinese herbs
burping Jade here while watching telly.

Now it's time for hubs to carry Jade...while i go and pee. Not that we don't want to put her down in the plastic cot but everytime when we do that she starts to cry and the nurses will come in. We feel a bit obliged to keep the wailing down. If I was at home, I will just let her cry man. While hubs was happily watching telly from his sofa...our 2 boys came to pay us a visit! YAY!
 miss my 2 rascals!!!
hubs' parents brought our 2 sons to visit us. Jules offered to carry his little sister. As usual his brotherly instinct shows up clearly as compared to James who acts differently in front of the baby.
Above: Can you tell the difference? One hand belongs to hubs while the other belongs to Jules, holding Jade's 2 little feet.
My 2 boys enjoy watching telly the most out of this trip to the hospital.
