Jun 2022 | Staycay Hotel Traveltine Day 1

 *screams* June holidays!

It's the June Holidays already! How time flies and we are into the 6th month of the year. This June Holidays, I'm clearing my leave every Friday and the whole week of the June holidays. This weekend, I booked an art jamming session for myself and the boys. I've always wanted to do something like this with the kids and so when there was an opportunity, we decided to give it a go!

And since it is a "long" weekend for me, I was searching for a hotel near the art studio and found Hotel Traveltine and what's interesting is that, opposite is the Golden Mile Food centre that has so many good food, it is within walking distance to Kampong Glam where there is the Malay Heritage Centre where the children can collect their Museum Pass stamp and interesting walking street mural trail!

Our Art jamming session at Textile Centre. This building is so weird. The lift lands in between floors.
Our Art Teacher Jay. Lately I'm meeting many Jays. First it was Jade's ballet reception cum manager named Jay, now art teacher. Hmm, not to mention that my hubs is also known as Jay. > <
James has a natural talent for blending knife painting!

Guess what are we painting? The Seaside using the technique of palette knife painting.
James is taking a break here, and Jules has completed his art work and using a hair dryer to dry the blops of acrylic paint.

can you see the pokemons in our drawings?
Was searching for Vietnamese food because hubs says he wants to eat dry viet noodles. And I found Co Hai Bahn Mi. They do their own baguettes and their Bahn Mi is supposedly really crispy on the outside and super soft on the insides. Verdict: Yes this is true.

We tried their beef noodles soup and dry noodles, vietnamese spring rolls too.

super colourful wall mural! We saw many pretty art mural on our way to Malay Heritage Centre.
Jules and James are twinning in their red polos from Uniqlo and Jade and I are twinning in our marimekko top!

After our visit to the Malay Heritage Centre, we brought the kids to the pool for a cool dip!
Dinner at Lorr 33 Geylang Claypot Rice, although stated as Geylang, it is situated at one of the shophouse within walking distance. Our wait for the claypot rice was 40 mins, but it was worth the wait. We ordered 3 dishes - long beans, prawn roll and home made tofu with prawns. The last dish was the best that the kids was adding the gooey eggy sauce to their rice.

Nov 2021 | Staycation Day 02 | Little India

Breakfast in a tent! The aircon was blasting way too cold. They only serve 1 type of breakfast and you choose how you want your eggs done. Before they serve you your eggs, they will give each table a plate/basket of bread and yoghurt for everyone.

After breakfast, the kids laid on the bed to watch cable tv. But it looked like dark clouds were looming, so I told hubs to let get our butts down to Little India and do a little walking tour in the moring.

And so off we went! There are 3 little art districts in Little India and we only managed to cover one walking trail. The walking trails can be found online, so just do a little bit of research, you should be able to find those walking trail maps.

me and Jade are in matching outfits from Uniqlo Marimekko!

End of the walking trail and we walked back to City Square Mall as I have booked tickets for the boys to enter Airzone!

After an hour at Airzone, it was time for lunch and there are many well known little cafes around the area and famous scissor cut economic rice, seafood restaurant etc. Loads to eat and explore.

We had our lunch at Wimbly Lu at Tyrwhitt Road. There was no queue when we visited but it started forming after we came out of the cafe. Super cute interior basking with daylight streaming in. The kids telling me that they are not hungry at all but when the food starts coming in, they all ate it up voraciously.

We ordered: crab meat bun, fried chicken waffles, honey garlic chicken and mac and cheese.

Went we came back to our hotel room, the bed has been made and the room cleaned! YAY!
Today's PM activity is POOL TIME!

Dinner at Old Lai Huat Seafood Restaurant. We ate their famous fried fish, ordered fish maw soup and seafood tofu. It was so good that I forgot to take any photos of the food.
