Apr 2022 | Staycation at Furama City Centre Day 1

 

Last minute booking by hubs for a short staycation over my birthday weekend. 

It was a family package at Furama City Centre with tickets to Waka Waka and free shuttle service but be forewarned, it is only one-way! But that was not the part that made our first day at Furama City Centre disappointed, it was the service at the reception and the room which they offered. The room was very run down, musty smell, switches dropping off, mouldy grout in the bathroom, no cable tv?? and after our return from the swimming pool, the shower hose burst!! Can you image the horror we got!

And we booked a family package for 2 nights stay, but the trip to Waka Waka was only for 1 night? They should have made themselves clear in their package details. When we checked in, we were told that if we wanted Waka Waka for both nights, then we should have booked separately for 2 nights. WHAT? come on, the room I paid per night is a different rate as to compared to the normal room rate without the family package, so how is it that we are only entitled to 1 trip to Waka Waka? Seriously, they really know how to con people like us, but we didn't want to argue at the reception since we are here to celebrate my birthday. Let's move on...

Hubs tried to book our dinner and the recep told us that we could only eat at 830pm slot. What? This family package comes with complimentary breakfast and dinner and we are booking immediately after we check in and you say we can only eat at 830pm??? OMG.

The room was so old and dirty that we quickly changed out into our swimsuits for a swim, didn't even want to stay inside the room for long.

Back to our room after the swim, hubs wanted to rinse Jade off from the chlorine water and that's when the shower head burst. Hubs called the recep again and told them to fix it. We didn't want to wait for the technician to come so we told them that we are heading off to somewhere and they could come and fix it while we are not in the room.

Since we have about 2 hours before our super late dinner, we brought the boys down to OWNDAYS to make new spectacles for them.

We reached back to the hotel about 830pm and still there was no available seats for us. The kids and ourselves were really hungry.

When we were seated, the waiter just told us to get our food from the hot stations, the waiter didn't even tell us that our dinner comes with a seafood platter!!! Fortunately I was browsing their online menu and saw it when hubs was queueing for the hot food. 

Our seafood platter took forever to come and it came with only one sauce and no lemons, and no clams too. Since it was our first visit to Tiffany, when we saw our seafood platter, we were impressed but only to realise on the 2nd night that the sauce, lemon, clams were missing.

My three kids, didn't know what they are missing fortunately had a really good time. I bet it was because they were really hungry. Although we had a really bad start at Furama City Centre, the dinner buffet food at Tiffany was quite good. They were short of staff no doubt, we didn't get our water refills, cutlery had to wait for very long, serviettes too and side plates so that I can distribute the food to my 3 children, I must compliment them on the roast beef and rendang. It was delicious!

Happy that my children had a good dinner.
