Today's itinerary at a glance
1. Kyoto to Osaka
2. Osaka Aquarium Kaiyunkan
3. Lunch: Okonomiyaki (one of those things to eat in Osaka!)
4. Legoland Discovery Centre
5. Teamlab Botanical Garden Osaka
8am: Breakfast at the hotel, quick packed all toiletries into the luggage.
930am: Train back to Osaka. Once we reached, checked into our hotel and it's time to head over to Osaka Aquarium Kaiyunkan. On the train, Jules head was bobbing left to right and right to left.
11am: We have already checked in, left our luggage at the Conceirge as it is too early to put our luggage into the room. 1130am: Reach the Aquarium and there was a very long queue for the tickets. We bought the combo tickets for entry to both Aquarium (Entrance time 12pm) and Legoland Discovery Centre (Last entry is 4pm). There is a ticketed time entry to prevent crowding.
For Aquarium, ages 2 and under are free.
Ages 3-6: 700 Yen, Ages 7-15: 1,400 Yen and Ages 16 and over: 2,700 Yen.
There are over 15 large tanks, each recreating a specific region of the Pacific Rim.
Above: Japan Forest which recreates a sunlit, beautiful Japanese Forest with playful otters. When we were there, there was a playful otter scratching its back and stomach against the tree bark.
the largest sea creature - the whale shark
Jade's favourite was the dolphin and it was quite difficult to get a shot of the dolphin together with Jade.Above: Garden eels
Above: Manta rays, dolphin and sunfish
King Crabs! They were so huge!!!
seals
250PM: Lunch at Fugetsu Okonomiyaki. Order a family set which costs us 5,340 Yen.
1 large Okonomiyaki, 1 Yakisoba, 3 sausages and fried omelette
Did you know that Okonomiyaki is also known as a Japanese Pizza (Cabbage pancake)? Okonomiyaki is one of the famous foods to eat in Osaka, finally got to eat this after so many days of Takoyaki!
The service here is quite slow as there are only 2 staffs to cook the okonomiyaki for that many tables. We were so famished.
33pm: we entered Legoland Discovery Centre
We all had a ride on the Merlin's Apprentice. It is a super safe and small ride for little ones.
Above: 4D cinema
above: moving base to test how stable/earthquake-proof your building is. Once you have finished your built, you can press a button and the base will start to move and shake.
Above: Lego Racer Build and Test. Here the boys got to design their own racing car builds and test them over the steep ramp.Above: Hubs went on the Merlin's Apprentice ride with Jade, while the boys are testing their cars at the ramps.
Above: Lego Friends Olivia House, this was the place where Jade enjoyed building her house. She wasn't interested in the car racing test and build.
Above: Insider Mini-Land.
Above: City of Osaka, along Dotonbori, there is even the Glico Man. Each mini land had buttons to push where a part of it comes to life! The kids super love the Gozilla coming out from one of the buildings. It was the same mini-build that Jules and James could crawl into a tunnel and see the mini city from inside.[to be continued, stay tuned for our experience at teamlab Botanical Garden Osaka!]
