4D3N to GENTING MALAYSIA - DAY 1

It's the September School Holidays again! How time flies and 3/4 of 2019 has just past by in a blink of an eye. Hubs and I didn't really gotten ourselves down to plan what to do for the children this one week holiday, so we thought perhaps bringing them to somewhere close or even a staycation would be a good break for the whole family. Also I believe school holidays are a time for more family bonding.

You might wonder why would weekends not be a time for family bonding for us. Well that's because Hubs is running a one-man show doing his freelance interior design and many of our clients are only free on weekends for meetings. So many of our weekends are spent not together as a family. Saturdays I would look after the kids and bring them out to our local neighbourhood shopping mall for a walk, tea and scoot. Usually we take about 2 hours and that gives hubs enough time for his meetings. Sundays we bring all three of our children over to their grandparents' place for bonding time! The grandparents are always happy to have them over because they are so noisy!!!

To cut the story short, this holidays we decided to bring them up to Malaysia's Genting Highlands. We booked a malaysian driver, a contact which I got from my colleague who frequents the casino often. We stayed over at Theme Park Hotel after reading many reviews on them and wanted to give it a try since they have a sixers room, really suitable for a big family like us.

We woke up at 530am, got into our car at 6am, crossed the customs quite swiftly and had breakfast at Ya Kun Fishball noodles. Although it is a fishball noodles, it looked very much like our Singapore's Yong Tau Foo store! The noodles are served in a very delicious black sauce and opps, it was so good that I didn't even remember to take any photos of it. The place was very crowded and had free WIFI!

The 7 of us (hubs, myself, 3 kids, godma and helper) managed to squeeze ourselves into a 4 pax table!!!
2pm, we finally reached Genting Highlands. The check in time was 3pm and if we wanted to check in immediately, we had to paid a $5 ringgit and we thought ok! With 3 kids and even though there was a really fun playground in the lobby, I don't think my 3 kids could spend an hour there....

So we checked ourselves in via the check-in kiosk and paid the $5 via credit card and up we went into our sixers room!!!

Next was to check up the bathroom areas.  There were 2 sinks, separate shower area and a separate WC. There were 6 towels but how come there were only 2 sets of toothbrush and toothpaste? We didn't ask for more since we brought our own set of toothbrush and toothpaste. Also it's more environmentally friendly to bring your own, however since it was a sixers room, there should have items for at least 6 pax.

Although the concept was to co-share, but can you imagine if it was co-share with 3 couples? The shower area totally had no where to hang the towel or clothes and that means that after you shower, you basically have to come out to an open area where there is no door, anyone could have mistakenly walk in and see you naked!
So when it was Godma or my helper's turn to shower, we really had to wait until we were sure that they had finished their shower, came out fully dressed before we could use the WC. So in the end, it wasn't able to allow multiple pax to use the toilet at one time.
The room was very modern with 3 queen mattresses.
However, for 6 pax seriously there wasn't even hanging space for all of us. The ceiling fan was very small and lucky for us, the weather was quite cooling in the day, if not even with the windows open, the mattress under the bunk bed was actually quite stuffy!

The blinds at night kept banging against the window frame and making loud noises due to the wind. So hubs couldn't tolerate the noise and had the blinds down and they stopped flapping but the room was very stuffy and almost warm. How can a hotel room not have aircon???  The ceiling fan was so small and it was only above the dresser table, other parts of the room basically didn't have much ventilation at all.

And worse, two of my kids were bitten by some bugs and I'm not even sure was it because the window was left open!!!
