Racial Harmony Day

Got a note from Jules teacher that in 2 days time, the school is celebrating Racial Harmony and all the children were encouraged to dress in their traditional attire to school. When we saw the message, we almost freaked out! Because Jules has no traditional clothes and it wasn't any where close to the Lunar New Year. We didn't have time to rush down to Chinatown to take a look too.

So the only way was to take a chance to find something for Jules during our lunch time hour. And fortunately we found a store that sold a traditional shirt for boys but at a whooping $69 and it was just the top. no bottoms.

Korean Hotpot - Army Stew (Budaejjigae)

Budgaejjieae or Army Stew as it is more commonly know originates during war times when food were scarce. Its like a hotpot korean style where you can find all sorts of ingredients in it, like throwing all the leftovers in and boil. Koreans in the past uses leftover food from the US Army so that explains the SPAM luncheon, sausages and baked beans that is found in all army stew.

For us, to save money and not eat at a korean restaurant. WE dashed to our local supermart and bought veggie, sausages, frozen stripes of beef and pork, tofu, 1 packet of shimeji mushrooms and 1 packet of kimchi! And we threw in our packet of SHIN korean ramen!!!

OMG.
it tasted just as good as the restaurant's.
and way cheaper.

Jules - Dried leaves Owl Art

Owls made from dried leaves

Jules holding onto his masterpiece

Jules is down with runny nose and cough and mild fever. So today I'm looking after him at home while bb James is sent to his grandfather's.

To keep Jules occupied and interested, we did a little art and craft thingy together!
I made Jules collected 2 leaves from our front patio and turned them into Owls. He helped to stick the "eyes" of the owls and pressed them down firmly while the glue is set to dry.

And the finished product was given to his grandma and grandpa who is so proud of him.
